First off, I haven't read the books, I plan to after the film mainly because that way I won't be put off by anything generally different from it.
I'm really excited for this, and I want to hear what you think of it... |

I like the Graphic Novels and the last one (which will have a different ending) is due the 20th.

Gah. Dang it. I found volumes 1-3 to put on hold within my library's region but they didn't have volume 4. If I like the series enough, I'll just buy the darn thing I guess.

Scott Pilgrim is the most amazing comic book series I've ever read.

So I've started reading it.... and by started I mean read through the first 3 volumes in a single afternoon/evening non-stop and I have to say, color me impressed. Though I'd like it to be known that Scott Pilgrim seems like a great example of "accidental genius" as in.... not much actual critical thought was put into the story but rather it was moreso a "write it as you go" sort of development. However, despite that it still remains extremely entertaining (obviously I'm referencing the Vegan Police because.... fucking come on lol). It's sort of admitting, "yeah we wrote most of the script yesterday but shut up, the bad guys burst into coins when they die, what the f**k is wrong with you?" When the movie adaptation hits theaters I'm going to buy my ticket, sit down, eat my popcorn, scratch my ass, turn off my brain, and enjoy in that order.

I read volumes 1-4 last month, and read most of 5, as well. I might as well finish 5 and read 6. Finally, I can be a jerk that says "The book was MUCH better!"!

Eh, I'm not particularly interested in this. From what I know, it seems like hipster garbage with video game references mindlessly thrown in.

I just came back from seeing the movies with friends and enjoyed the movie, although they forgot about the fourth evil ex. She teleported and was not defeated by Scott and remained away for the rest of the movie.

Just saw it a few hours ago so I've let it sink in at least a little bit before stating my opinion. I thought that Edgar Wright was a perfect match for this movie because of his style of editing. It was fast paced, the action scenes really did a wonderful job of interpreting very exaggerated comic book style movements and of course the usage of video game related sounds and images was masterfully done in a way that only about a quarter to a third of the way into the movie, you stop noticing the onomatopoeia as it's own element and it begins blending in with the rest of the environment. As for the story, well, it flowed at a decent pace. As I had been told by a great many people, it has a very different third act from the books but within the context of the movie it seemed very natural excluding the very jarring appearance of
I think the storyline could have been adapted better if it had been split into two movies, but that would have caused more problems than it would have solved *cough*Harry Potter*cough*. The investors would have leapt at the chance to make more than one movie and instead, we'd have 6 movies using material that only fills the requirement of 2 two hour features. As such, at the price of Kim and Wallace, I accept the cuts made to the story for the sake of time constraints. I'll say no more on the topic. As for my biggest geek out moments, I definitely got a kick out of how the battle with Lucas Lee was expanded upon. It just fit so well. Last edited by TitanAura; 2 Weeks Ago at 01:28 AM. |
